Meditating

Why Meditation?

Meditation has been scientifically proven* to have positive effects on our immune system and our sense of contentment.

It is widely used in medical care including the N.H.S. for a variety of  conditions including:

  • pain management

  • anxiety

  • low mood,

  • depression

  • nerve pain

  • A.D.H.D

  • P. T. S.D

  • chronic and autoimmune disorders

Meditation can be developed for the individual to target specific areas of concern and alleviate stress physically and mentally.

As trained meditation teachers it is understood that some people find the idea of meditation uncomfortable or feel anxiety may increase by using this technique. This is often due to the individual experiencing the wrong kind of meditation and perhaps already suffering from a high level of anxiety. We know the brain can become addicted to the familiar and the negative and we aim to address this to relieve symptoms.

Using meditation we can aid in the reduction of cortisol (which rises in those coping with stress) and boost levels of oxytocin. Oxytocin has many protective functions including anti inflammatory and cardio protective qualities. It can also be used to reduce unhelpful thinking, to help move a client away from sources of physical and mental pain.

Meditation in this case isn't designed as a  spiritual practice but as a passive intervention from your disorder. Many people are put off by the idea of meditation for a variety of reasons but most people can happily use it at anytime.

However meditation isn't always used in treatment and there is no pressure on anyone to try, but we find it boosts the level of recovery in many of our cases.
